UK Status Resident. Locally common in south-east England and central Wales. Montgomeryshire Status Discovered in the east of the county at Church Stoke in 2013. Only the ninth record for north Wales. Wingspan : M & F 5-6mm. Confusion species Many species of Stigmella and Ectoedemia are very similar. One of the best ways of separating them is to examine the type of leaf-mine in the foodplant. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Oak woodland. Foodplant Oak. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on upperside of leaf. Larva first mines a slender gallery, later forming a 'false blotch' where the mine makes a series of 'S' turns forming a blotch. Pupates in a pale pinkish-brown cocoon. |
